In 1972 Aerosmith signed a recording agreement and debuted their first album. It was followed by Get Your Wings. Toys in the Attic. Rocks. And Draw the Line. These albums were instrumental in helping Aerosmith gain international recognition. The albums featured legendary hits like "Dream On", "Walk This Way" as well as "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's five first albums all sold multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks were also multi-platinum. As the decade went by however, the band's life of constant playing, recording and staying together started wearing their bodies. Tyler and Perry were often referred to as Toxic Twins, for their famed consumption of stimulants as well as heroin. Their relationship is well documented in numerous Aerosmith's video releases as well as in the Aerosmith Behind the Music. Tyler seemed to be more committed to the group, seemed to resent Perry's passiveness and admire Perry's preference for women in his life. The tense dynamic between Tyler, Perry, and their former girlfriends was an important factor in the gradual decline of Aerosmith from 1980 onwards.
